Program Overview

Essential TEFL certification will prepare you to teach English as a foreign language by giving you the skills to be a successful English teacher anywhere in the world. Our program is led by an experienced and highly qualified team who will work with you before, during and after the course to ensure your success.

Course Structure

Our program is a 4-week long course located at our office next to the Lat Phrao MRT Underground and Sky Train Station in Bangkok. .While daily schedules vary, classes will typically meet Monday-Friday 10am to 3pm or 4pm. There is also assignments and homework to complete in your own time.

Practical Teaching Experience

We combine classroom lectures with as many hours possible of practical experience where participants will create lessons, teach them and then work to improve them where necessary with professional guidance.

Outings and gatherings are also included to develop teamwork among the students but also build friendships and make the transition to Bangkok as easy as possible. Also, we bring together current teachers from across Bangkok to share their experiences and build connections for students as they seek employment following the program.

Job Placement Support

Essential TEFL is also the only TEFL program in Thailand that is directly connected to a teacher employment agency. In fact, Essential Education Staffing is the largest employer of native English speakers in Thailand. With this connection, students will be able to get certified as a TEFL teacher from Essential TEFL and then find a job with Essential Educational Staffing, given available opportunities.

English Language Mastery

Participants will learn how to structure and plan lessons, teach vocabulary and grammar effectively, and to build and improve upon their already existing presentation and non-verbal skills. In addition, you will learn how to include games, music, pictures and other audio/visual components in class.

Online teaching essentials: learn key online teaching strategies such as ensuring active participation, setting and communicating crystal clear objectives, instructing students effectively, utilising interactive tools for collaboration and maintaining professional standards. These core skills prepare you for Teaching Online, focusing on practical application and student engagement.

Diverse Teaching Opportunities

Our TEFL participants go on to teach students from preschool to high school, adult learners to corporate English. Thus, we ensure participants know the different ways people learn and how to effectively approach teaching different age groups and learning styles. Second language acquisition includes aspects of conversation, reading, writing and listening to ensure complete comprehension. In addition, we want participants to be prepared for all aspects of their future job which includes preparing course materials, tests, homework, dealing with behavioral problems in the classroom and the ethics and professionalism expected of a TEFL teacher.

Practical Teaching Assignments

Finally, as many hours as possible will be dedicated to practical lessons where students will be tasked with preparing and teaching lessons and gaining real-life experience in front of students. Practical lessons will be observed by Essential TEFL’s experienced professionals who have a thorough understanding of the English language but also have years of teaching experience. Regular feedback will be provided to help improve where needed and praise success.
